LB Group Breaks Ground on $245 Million Malaysia Materials Facility

LB Group has broken ground on a new advanced-materials manufacturing facility at Gurun Heavy Industrial Park in Kedah, Malaysia.
The project, being developed through LB Advanced Material Asia Sdn. Bhd., represents an investment of RM1 billion, or approximately $245 million. Phase 1 accounts for RM600 million of that total.
The 60.1-acre site will be developed in phases and is expected to reach annual production capacity of 300,000 metric tons of advanced materials when complete. The Malaysian Investment Development Authority said the project is expected to create more than 300 skilled jobs.
LB Group manufactures titanium dioxide and other inorganic materials used in coatings, plastics, inks, paper and other applications. The company reports global annual titanium dioxide capacity exceeding 1.51 million metric tons.
