Orion’s French Conductive Additives Plant Earns IATF Certification

Orion S.A.’s conductive-additives facility in Berre-l’Étang, France, has earned certification to the IATF 16949 automotive quality-management standard.
The facility produces acetylene black used in lithium-ion batteries, high-voltage wire and cable and other applications requiring electrical conductivity.
Orion uses acetylene gas supplied as a byproduct from a neighboring operation as feedstock for the process. The site also includes wet-beading technology designed to convert acetylene black into a less dusty pelletized form for handling and processing.
The company’s facilities in Huaibei and Qingdao, China, also hold IATF certification.
Quality-system certification for conductive-additive production is relevant as coatings formulators develop conductive and functional coatings for automotive, battery and electronics applications. Explore more PCI coverage of paint and coating additives.
