Industry Leaders Making the Headlines

Scott Borst has joined Wacker Silicones as Business Team leader, Building and Coatings, with responsibility for directing the business’s North American sales, marketing, supply-chain and technology development/technical-support functions. Borst was formerly Business director, Coatings, at Eastman Chemical Co., and previously was Global Marketing director with a market-development focus on coatings at Eastman.

Jamestown Powder Coatings has named Bradley Hamm manager of Regulatory Affairs. Hamm will retain his current responsibilities at the company’s corporate headquarters in Jamestown, PA. Jamestown Powder Coatings operates facilities in Jamestown and Columbus, OH.

Degussa has named Stephen Holtzman general manager, Industrial Colorants, Americas. He succeeds Robert Mitchell, who has retired. Holtzman assumes responsibility for the colorants business in the industrial-maintenance, special-purpose and coil-coatings markets in North and South America. Holtzman joined Degussa five years ago and has primarily been responsible for the marketing activities of Color System and in-plant colorants in the NAFTA region.

Plasticolors Inc. announced a reorganization of sales and marketing operations, creating separate departments for sales and marketing and naming Mark Lodwick director of Sales and Larry Haines director of Marketing. Lodwick, who formerly managed the company’s thermoset plastics business, assumes responsibility for overall sales management and customer and technical service. Haines, formerly business manager for Plasticolors’ coatings business, will coordinate and integrate research, manage market relations and direct product promotion. In other appointments, Liz Campbell was named to the new position of Product Development manager and Marty Holden was named to the new position of Market Development manager. Brian Czuchra is Technical Marketing specialist.

Neil Lubell has joined M.A.B. Paints as Metro New York City Sales representative. Lubell was formerly a sales representative and operational manager with New York Bell Paint Corp. M.A.B. is based in Philadelphia.

The Hanson Group L.L.C., Atlanta, has appointed John Leon, Freedom Technologies Inc., Hampshire, IL, as an independent marketing and sales representative for specialty chemicals for the polyurea and polyurethane markets. Leon formerly has held production, laboratory-development, product-management, and marketing and sales positions with UOP Corp. The Hanson Group represents several suppliers of materials to the polyurea and polyurethane markets.

SPX Process Equipment has named Jeff Neiweem National Sales manager for Waukesha Cherry-Burrell. Neiweem was formerly general manager of Bran+Luebbe’s U.S. operation in Roselle, IL, now part of SPX Process Equipment, and is responsible for sales of fluid-handling and process equipment for the Americas. He also retains management responsibilities for sales of the Bran+Luebbe product line.

Reynolds Industries Inc., Fort Mill, SC, has named Stephen E. Speer National Sales manager for North American operations, with responsibility for all outside sales functions. Speer has 25 years of experience in the paint and coatings industry. Reynolds Industries is a supplier of mixing and dispersion equipment.
