Surventis, formerly BASF Coatings, will contribute materials-science, optical-design and nanoimprint-manufacturing expertise. Its process uses scalable roll-to-roll nanoimprinting to reproduce optical micro- and nanostructures across large film areas.

According to the companies, the films can improve light distribution and display readability while enabling additional functions and greater design flexibility. The manufacturing approach is also intended to support higher-volume, cost-efficient production.

AUMOVIO will contribute its experience in automotive display systems, head-up displays, system integration and manufacturing. The company’s current display portfolio includes LCD, microLED, privacy-display, three-dimensional and other in-vehicle technologies.

The companies said they have established specific development steps and initial industrialization milestones intended to move optical-film concepts toward future vehicle platforms.

The agreement does not identify a commercial launch date, production volume, vehicle manufacturer or named vehicle program. It should therefore be described as a development and industrialization collaboration rather than a product launch or confirmed production award.
