BASF Raises MDI and TDI Prices by $250/Metric Ton

BASF announced a $250-per-metric-ton price increase for its Lupranate® methylene diphenyl diisocyanate basic products and Lupranate toluene diisocyanate in ASEAN and South Asia.
The adjustment is effective immediately or as contract terms allow. BASF said the price action is necessary in consideration of sustainable business development, as well as continued increases in raw-material, transportation and energy costs.
Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate, or MDI, and toluene diisocyanate, or TDI, are aromatic isocyanates used as polyurethane raw materials. BASF identifies coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers among the CASE applications served by its MDI, TDI and polyol portfolio.
The increase affects polyurethane raw materials used across coatings and CASE formulations, adding a new cost signal for manufacturers sourcing in ASEAN and South Asia. Follow PCI’s raw materials for coatings coverage for additional supplier price developments.
